Fr. Roy Thomas SVD, the Director of Janvikas Society, Indore, Madhya Pradesh has been Awarded with the “Excellence Award for National Social Activity” by Global Achievers Foundation in Glittering function at Speaker Hall, Constitution club, Rafi Marg, New Delhi on 27th August 2012.
His excellency Waven William, High Commissioner of the Republic of Seychelles awarded Fr. Roy Thomas with Excellence Award for National Social Activity for all the initiatives Janvikas Society has undertaken for the development of unorganized women (rag pickers and domestic workers), youth and children in the slums of Indore city.
Other dignitaries who graced the function were Shri. Srikant Kumar Jena, Union Minister of State for Chemical and Fertilizers, S. Joginder Singh, IPS (Retd.) former CBI director(India), Ambassador Dr. V. B. Soni, former diplomat/ambassador retired from the Indian Foreign Service, Anees Durrani, secretary of Minority Department for all India Congress Committee, R K Trehan, Chief executive of Global Achievers Foundation, New Delhi.

Janvikas Society has been awarded with “Bharat Vishisht Sewa Puraskar” by ‘Foundation for Accelerated Community Empowerment’ (FACE) in glittering function at Malviya Smriti Bhavan, Deen Dayal Marg, New Delhi on 13th December 2015.
The “Bharat Vishisht Sewa Puraskar” award was presented to Fr. Roy Thomas, the director of Janvikas Society by B.L. Sharma (Former Member of Parliament, BJP) in the presence of Mr. Rajiv Babbar (Spokes Person, BJP), , Prakash Aggarwal (Former MP, Congress) and Parvin Kumar (Bhim, Mahabharat fame) for all the initiatives Janvikas Society has undertaken in Community Development as well as Women Empowerment programs in the slums of Indore and Bhopal cities.
Gandhi Jayanti and the second anniversary of Swach Bharat Mission were celebrated with pomp and show at Rajwada, in Indore city today in the presence of Smt. Malini Lakshman Gaur, Mayor of Indore Municipal Corporation, Mr. Krishna Murari Moghe, the former mayor of Indore Municipal Corperation, Mr. Manish Singh, the Commissioner etc.
“Swachata Puraskar” award was given during the function by Smt. Malini Gaur, the Mayor of Indore Municipal Corporation to Janvikas Society. Janvikas has been collaborating with Indore Municipal Corporation in creating awareness among people on clean city through door to door counselling, street plays, rallies etc as part of Swach Bharat Mission. Janvikas is working in 2 zones in the city which consists of 9 wards (approximately 45,000 households).
Janvikas Society received another award “Best Work on Innovation in Rights of Informal Sector Workers” by Indo Global Social Service Society, Delhi. Recognition for Janvikas’ work with city slum dwellers namely waste pickers in Indore, creating ‘Samaveshi Shehar- an Inclusive City’.
Janvikas received “Madhya Pradesh NGO Leadership Awards 2018” on 1st June 2018 at Pride Hotel and Convention Centre, Indore.
Fr. Roy, the Director of Janvikas and Fr. Dominic, the Assistant Director received the award during the function. It was organized by Dr. R.L. Bhatia, Founder, World CSR Day and World Sustainability.
Activities are in progress in 'Creating awareness among people of Indore city on cleanliness' as part of Swach Bharat Abhiyan in collaboration with Indore Municipal corporation.
An extensive survey of Rag Pickers in Indore city is being carried out by Janvikas Society.
Janvikas is part of the nation wide campaign for inclusion of Rag Pickers into the Solid Waste Management Process.
The Solid Waste Management Rules 2016 clearly states about the inclusion of Rag Pickers in the Solid Waste Management Process. Rag Pickers are the owners of dry waste generated.
The 'World's Big Sleep Out' (WBSO) is to be held on 7th December 2019 across 30 Indian cities, spending a night on the streets with the homeless showing solidarity with the 17 lakh homelss people in India. You are most welcome to join us in Indore.
