Empowerment

Self-Help Groups (SHGs)

Waste pickers in Bhopal face poverty, illiteracy, lack of skills, and limited healthcare access. SAMMAN has formed Self-Help Groups of 11–15 women members to address these challenges collectively. Through regular savings, bank linkages, and community discussions, SHGs strengthen financial stability and promote empowerment of women and vulnerable children, especially those engaged in rag picking.

Slum Development Committees

SAMMAN has established Slum Development Committees comprising women, men, and youth to promote community participation and leadership. These committees meet monthly to identify local issues, plan solutions, and encourage collective responsibility. The process builds accountability and nurtures grassroots leadership within urban slum communities.

Training & Capacity Building

Regular meetings and structured training programs enhance the capacity of waste pickers and door-to-door collectors. Sessions cover leadership, RTI, RTE, government schemes, and health awareness. Exposure visits to cities such as Indore, Pune, and Bangalore further strengthen their knowledge, confidence, and organizational skills.

Youth Animation Programme

Youth groups of approximately 20 members are formed to encourage young people to take charge of their future. Through dialogue, awareness building, and social action, they analyze community challenges and initiate solutions. The programme nurtures responsible, confident youth who contribute positively to social transformation.
